Walmart Trickery
One of my pet peeves is shopping carts with bum wheels. There's nothing like trying to go about your shopping in peace while pushing a cart that announces your approach from two aisles away.
I think Walmart has figured a way to keep customers from selecting carts that aren't damaged. Otherwise Walmart employees would be spending a lot of time moving the bad carts that customers have left in the entry way of the store.
Both of our local Walmart Super Centers have two different types of flooring in the entry way of their stores. The first is a rough, stone-like surface and the second is ceramic tile. I may be off base but I believe these two types of flooring are designed to throw off the customers who would otherwise choose a cart that isn't busted.
The cart rolls rough for the first twenty-yards into the store so that by the time you hit the smooth surface of the store floor you barely notice if the cart wobbles or not. If/when you do you're already "in the store" and won't bother to go back to make a switch.
Genius!
